Does Andrew Friedman Have A Patience Problem?

It’s difficult to critique Andrew Friedman, but in some cases, I think it’s still fair to question.

Gary Carter: The World Loses a Smile

I never watched Gary Carter play — sadly, I’m too young for that — but I was still hit hard by his death. Rest in peace, Kid.

Should The Nationals Sign Prince Fielder?

The Storm That Cancelled Halloween

I’ll never understand the media. What’s happening right now in Connecticut (and Massachusetts, and Northern Jersey) has all the hallmarks of a “Major Story”. It involves the East Coast. A natural disaster. Hundreds of thousands of people without power or heat for an entire week in 30-50 degree weather. Dramatic and startling storm damage. Connecticut and Massachusetts have both declared Federal States of Emergency, and the still-broke FEMA is on the scene handing out supplies (yay for MREs!). Lines for gas stations snake down the street, and even today (four full days after the storm) many towns are reporting 70% outages. This is unreal.

And yet, after coverage of the Nor’Easter itself this weekend, I haven’t been able to find mention of the story in any media outlet.* Zilch. Nada. No local color story on NPR about Connecticut cancelling Halloween. No reporting by the New York Times or The Atlantic on the aftermath of the storm. It’s enough to make me question myself; is this really happening to me? Is this storm not all that big a deal?

Echoes Greet Tampa Bay's Historic Charge - NYTimes.com

I was interviewed back in late September for an article over at the New York Times. It seems everyone wants to get in a word on the Rays’ stadium/attendance issues.
